چکیده

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) is the most common cause of non-epidemic, acute focal central nervous system infection. HSV type 1 (HSV-1 or Human Herpes Virus-1 [HHV-1]) is commonly associated with oropharyngeal infections, keratoconjunctivitis, and infections of the central nervous system, whereas HSV type 2 (HSV-2 or HHV-2) commonly produces genital infections. Severe disseminated HSV infection may occur in immunocompromised individuals or through neonatal infection acquired by viral transmission at delivery through an infected birth canal.

Peripheral target choice by homologous neurons during embryogenesis of the medicinal leech. I. Segment-specific preferences of Retzius cells.

A pair of large serotonergic neurons, the Retzius (Rz) cells, is found in each segment of the leech nervous system. Most Rz cells innervate the body wall of their own segment as well as adjacent anterior and posterior segments. Rz cells in segments 5 and 6 [Rz (5,6)] instead innervate the reproductive tissue found only in those segments. Rz cells from adjacent segments [Rz (4,7)] provide the se...

Morphological Changes in Leech Contact During Embryogenesis Retzius Neurons

Segmental variation in identified neurons may provide an opportunity to examine extrinsic influences on neuronal phenotype, since segmentally homologous neurons must contain much the same intrinsic information, having arisen from very similar or identical precursors. Two large serotonergic Retzius (Rz) ceils are found in each segmental ganglion of the leech Hirudo medicinalis. While most Fir ce...

Polarization-insensitive, 40 Gb/s wavelength and RZ-OOK-to-RZ-BPSK modulation format conversion by XPM in a highly nonlinear PCF.

Polarization-insensitive wavelength conversion, as well as the conversion of return-to-zero (RZ) ON-OFF keying (RZ-OOK) to RZ binary phase-shift keying (RZ-BPSK), has been simultaneously achieved at 40 Gb/s for the first time by cross-phase modulation (XPM) in a highly birefringent, nonlinear photonic crystal fiber (PCF). A 10-9-BER receiver sensitivity conversion penalty of < 3 dB was achieved...

Segment-specific morphogenesis of leech Retzius neurons requires particular peripheral targets.

In most segments of the leech, a pair of Retzius (Rz) cells innervate the body wall musculature and skin; however, in the segments specialized for reproduction (midbody segments 5 and 6), these neurons innervate the reproductive tissue instead. Whereas all Rz cells have the same morphology early in embryogenesis, those in the reproductive segments [Rz(5,6)] become considerably different from th...

All-optical amplitude-phase transmultiplexing of RZ-OOK and RZ-BPSK to RZ-QPSK by polarization-insensitive XPM using a nonlinear birefringent AlGaAs waveguide.

Polarization-insensitive (PI) phase-transmultiplexing (PTM) of a 10-Gb/s return-to-zero ON-OFF keying (RZ-OOK) pump and a 10-Gb/s RZbinary phase-shift keying (RZ-BPSK) probe to 20-Gb/s RZ-quadrature-PSK (RZ-QPSK) has been successfully demonstrated for the first time in a passive, birefringent AlGaAs waveguide, utilizing PI cross-phase modulation (PI-XPM). For differential QPSK (DQPSK)-detection...
